Marjorie Henshaw, wife of Old
Testament Professor Emeritus Richard Henshaw, died peacefully in
Rochester on June 11th, following a long bout with cancer. The funeral
service was celebrated by Fr. Bruce Griffith of Christ Church,
Rochester on Saturday, June 14th, and attended by Dean Kevern and many,
many friends of the Henshaws.
As Richard noted in the service leaflet, “Marjorie was the most perfect wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend that God’s Providence provides.” She died surrounded by family and friends, including her daughter Kathy and daughter-in-law Grace, both of whom live only a short distance away from the Henshaw residence. Richard is still in fine health for his age, and graciously greeted a church full of guests at the reception afterwards. He continues to teach Hebrew in an informal basis in his living room and to celebrate the Eucharist in the Rochester area. Notes of condolence from former students (which go back even to the Gambier days) will be most welcome, I’m sure.
